Year-of-Service Experience
Whether you’re looking for a life-changing way to spend a gap year, hoping to add meaning to your retirement by making a difference, build more experience, or just looking to make a change, spending a dedicated year-of-service at LBFE Chicago may be the opportunity for you!
The Volunteer Program Assistant (VPA) Program offers an impactful experience that connects VPAs with older adults in Chicago communities. As a VPA, you’ll visit and plan outings for 25-30 older adults in a region of the city over the course of a year. While building relationships with LBFE older adults, you’ll also form deep connections with those around you, such as staff and other volunteers, explore your interests and reflect on what’s next. You’ll make a meaningful impact in the city of Chicago, and meet new friends of all ages.
LBFE works with local, national, and international partners to engage up to twelve VPA volunteers each year.
