Summer Vacation Experiences
There’s nothing like spending summer in Chicago with friends! LBFE’s Vacation program gives older adults the opportunity to enjoy some of the best the season has to offer. Instead of feeling stuck at home alone, LBFE elders are out and about with friends, making fun summer memories to brighten the rest of the year.
Getaways to Audrey’s House
From June through September, older adults escape the city weekly for three-night, four-day vacations to Audrey’s House. Our summer vacation retreat and year-round program center in Batavia, IL, is a beautiful, peaceful space where LBFE older adults are free to kick back and enjoy, all while surrounded by friends. And best of all, the friendships that older adults make at Audrey’s House can continue to grow the rest of the year — and last for years to come.
Day trips give even more older adults the chance to get away and enjoy the fun and beauty of Audrey’s House while meeting and making new friends. Older adults join in on specially themed afternoons, such as Blues and BBQ or Carnival Day, for example.
Summer in the City Outings
Our Summer in the City Program brings relaxing, rejuvenating staycations to older adults who need or prefer to stay closer to home. Group outings might include a day at the aquarium, or a Spa Day or summer-themed gathering at LBFE. Reliable, comfortable transportation and lunch is always included.
Summer Visits
Volunteers bring summer fun, conversation and laughter to our homebound older adults during a special in-home visit. During these visits, they deliver goodie bags filled with summer treats and bring an activity to enjoy together, such as puzzles, activity books and more.
