We Care

We Care

The well-being of our elders and entire community is our priority. We’ve adjusted our outreach to continue our mission to alleviate loneliness and isolation for Chicago’s elders safely and according to CDC recommendations. This is our
We Care/We’re Careful Campaign.

What We’re Doing

Staying connected

Our volunteers and staff are reaching out daily, with cards and letters of friendship and hope, as well as calls to share conversation, worries and laughter. As always, our elders know they can rely on their Little Brothers family.

Delivering food and emergency supplies

Deliveries of a week’s worth of pantry staples and fresh groceries continue as contactless drop offs for elders in need. We also supply emergency food and ensure elders are connected with additional resources.

Joining with community partners

Whenever possible, we’re working alongside other organizations to make an impact. For example, our friends at Fight2Feed have continued using our kitchen to safely prepare hundreds of meals for Chicagoans who are housing insecure.

How You Can Help

Support our elders

Your gift of any amount ensures that Chicago elders aging without support know they’re not alone. Together, we’re making sure they have the food, medicine and supplies needed to shelter safely in place.

Join us!

We’ve begun offering our volunteer orientation virtually, via Zoom. Sign up to attend an orientation, and then we’ll match you with an elder to connect with over the phone or through the mail.

Reach out to elders in your community

As our volunteers and staff reach out to elders who are isolated and alone, we’re encouraging our entire community to call and send cards to the elders in your life. Keep scrolling for Conversation Starters and ready-to-print cards to stay connected.
